Late work
The problem
How do I let kids turn something in anytime and still teach them the importance of punctuality, work ethic, and real deadlines?
And how do I handle the logistics? If a kid turns in everything at the last minute, am I supposed to stay up all night grading it? Just because you can turn something in whenever you want doesn't mean I should have to grade it whenever you want.
There are some interesting approaches here, like "teach it, don't grade it," and being really explicit about authentic deadlines. Some teachers have figured out some pretty good ways to handle this.
